Westlands Farm Build Update

Last year we announced that planning approval had been granted for a new farm classroom block at one of our Kent secondary schools!

Today, we are delighted to share the latest progress on the new build 📈

The new development at our Westlands School is designed to meet the practical needs of a school farm while supporting classroom learning. The development consists of 5 classrooms, specialist science resources and essential amenities including washroom and changing facilities, tack room, feed and hay stores.

The CGI design here captures what the end build will look like. Currently, we're at a major milestone on site as the project moves into the superstructure phase, with the installation of the timber frame structure 🏗️

With key structural elements taking shape, the new building footprint is becoming clearly defined as the team carefully positions and secures the framework, supported by perimeter scaffolding and edge protection to maintain safe working at height.

A true collaboration between our Trust's Estates and School teams, Salt & Pepper Associates project managing the build, with JC Group appointed as the main contractor, all working together to deliver facilities that will revolutionise farming studies, providing our students with unparalleled opportunities for hands-on learning and practical experience. A big thank you to our Head of Estates, James Sanderson and Trust Estates Officer, Sharon Roe for their great work here!
