Inspire Scholars at TEA

A group of our Year 10 students from The Eastbourne Academy have taken part in a notable enrichment trip to London designed to broaden horizons, develop key skills and support their future ambitions.

Our 14 students here are part of the Inspire Scholars Programme, run through St John’s College at the University of Oxford.

The programme works with non-selective secondary schools to help pupils explore their interests, develop academic skills and consider their futures, while supporting students, schools and families to engage with different higher education options.

Students are given the opportunity to choose an enrichment trip each year, with schools able to bid for funding to support the experience.

Our Year 10 students from The Eastbourne Academy chose to visit the Natural History Museum in London and an escape room.

Zoe Delgado, Curriculum Leader for Spanish at The Eastbourne Academy, said: “This was a brilliant opportunity for our students to spend time in London, try something new and learn in a different environment. By combining academic enrichment with real-world experiences, the visit helped students build cultural capital. The escape room encouraged them to work together and think carefully, while the museum gave them the chance to discover new information and ask questions.

“It was fantastic to see them grow in confidence throughout the day and enjoy experiences that many of them will remember for a long time.”
