Teacher of Psychology (1 Year Fixed Term - Maternity Cover)
- MPS/UPS
- Full Time
- Start Date: September 2026

The Opportunity
Are you passionate about the intricacies of the human mind? Do you thrive on the energy of sparking intellectual debate in young adults? We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Psychology Teacher to join our exceptionally high-performing Social Sciences department.
While this role begins as a one-year maternity cover/fixed-term contract, we are looking for a long-term colleague. For the right candidate, there is a strong potential for this to transition into a permanent position as our department continues to expand.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Mastery at KS5: You will spend the majority of your timetable delivering A-Level Psychology. Our students are academically curious, driven and genuinely love the subject. It is one of the most popular choices in our Sixth Form.
Diverse Teaching Palette: To keep your practice fresh, you’ll also contribute to our KS3 English or Humanities curriculum. This is a chance to shape the foundational critical thinking and literacy skills that students will eventually bring into your Psychology classroom.
A Culture of Cohesion: We don't just work in the same building; we work as a unified team. From shared resources to collaborative planning and "open-door" peer support, you will never feel like you're teaching on an island.
Our School, Our People
"There is a genuine sense of 'we’re all in this together' that makes even the busiest weeks feel rewarding." – Current Staff Member
The Students: Our learners are our greatest asset. They are respectful, inquisitive, and possess a "can-do" attitude that makes teaching here a genuine joy.
The Staffing Body: We pride ourselves on low staff turnover and high morale. We prioritise wellbeing and ensure that our team feels heard, valued, and professionally challenged.
Professional Growth: Whether you are an ECT or an experienced practitioner, we invest in you. You’ll have access to bespoke CPD and a mentor dedicated to your transition into our school culture.
What We Are Looking For:
- A specialist with a degree in Psychology (or a related field) and QTS.
- A teacher who can break down complex theories into electrifying lessons.
- A "team player" in the truest sense; someone who contributes to the vibrant life of the school.
- The flexibility to teach KS3 English or Humanities with the same enthusiasm and creativity as your KS5 classes.
Full details of the requirements of the post can be found in the accompanying recruitment pack.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our school. In return, we offer a stimulating, supporting, and rewarding working environment, where all staff are valued and where you will have the opportunity to access a range of excellent professional opportunities to support your progression.
